I hope you are all enjoying Labor Day Weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone later this week. We will get a midweek update out on 9/7 to get any last minute updates or directions before we start school on 9/8.

Our TPS weekend updates:

First day of school
We’re just a few days away from the first day of school. I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Our first day is Thursday, Sept. 8. School starts at 8:15AM.

All schools begin one hour later on Wednesday mornings except when noted otherwise on our school online calendar. Calendar - Mason Middle School (tacomaschools.org)

Getting to school- PLEASE CHECK YOUR BUS STOP!

I am hearing from some families that bus stops have shifted due to updated boundaries for middle schools. Please check ahead of time and contact transportation for questions about stops.
Get ready for the first day of school by checking our online tool to search for nearby bus stops. Have questions? Call our Transportation Department at 253-571-1853.

COVID-19 updates
The health of our students and staff is a top priority. As we begin the new school year, we want to share updated COVID-19 information and the Washington State Department of Health guidance.

All students who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate at home for at least five full days, regardless of vaccination status.

They can return to school on day six if:

• They have no symptoms, or symptoms are improving, AND
• They’ve had no fever in the past 24 hours without fever-reducing medication

Restricting the release of student information
TPS highlights the great work and accomplishments of students throughout our schools. Student stories can include a wide range of directory information, photos and video. If you would like to restrict the release of your child’s information, please complete this form.


Advisory and Student Schedules at Mason-

Students will start school with longer advisory classes in the mornings on 9-8 and 9-9. Student schedules will be communicated and reviewed during these advisory sessions. 6^th graders and any student who does not know their advisory teacher will start the day in the cafeteria where we will have several adults helping students get to the correct advisory classroom.
